Useful information
Warmer days, rhododendrons in bloom and the Everest climbing season at Base Camp.
Crisp, clear skies and the sharpest mountain views of the year.
Quiet trails and clear views, but very cold nights above 4,000 m.
Cloud, rain lower down and frequent Lukla flight delays.
A challenging high-altitude trek with 5–8 hours of walking on most days. No climbing skills are needed, but good fitness helps: start walking, hiking and stair training a few months before you come.
Nights are in simple mountain teahouses that get more basic as you climb. All meals are vegetarian and freshly cooked. Bring a refillable bottle and purification tablets; plastic bottles are a big problem in the Khumbu.
You need the Sagarmatha National Park permit and the Khumbu local area permit. Both are included, along with the Kathmandu–Lukla flights. Mountain flights depend on the weather, so delays can happen.
Two acclimatisation days, a slow pace and daily breathing practice help your body adapt. Tell your guide straight away about headache, nausea or dizziness. Insurance covering trekking to 6,000 m and helicopter rescue is required.
Everest Base Camp refers to the highest mountain trekking in Nepal with daily yoga, meditation, pranayama and nature healing in breathtaking mountain views.
